  • School identification and evaluation of children with special needs.
  • Multi-Factored Evaluations (MFEs).
  • Development and Implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or "504 Plans".
  • Placement issues, including Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) and Mainstreaming.

  • Rights of disabled students in post secondary education, including universities, community colleges and vocational programs.

LCMR is committed to assisting Parents of disabled children in their efforts to obtain a free appropriate public education through the development and implementation of educational programs that are individually tailored to meet the unique needs of each disabled child.  LCMR's services are, likewise, individually tailored and may range from simply a records review to advocacy and representation for a due process or other legal proceeding.  Our first emphasis, however, is on conflict resolution and negotiation, rather than confrontation or legal action.

School Law

Lutz, Cornetet, Meyer & Rush also provides legal services in the broader area of School Law across a range of issues, such as:

  • Disciplinary matters, including suspension or expulsion proceedings.
  • Alternative placements, including community schools and internet programs.
  • Residency requirements.
  • Access to educational records and privacy rights.
  • Home schooling.
  • Public school transportation for students enrolled in private schools.

As with Special Education, our initial focus, if practical, is usually on problem solving and negotiation, rather than litigation.
